OIT Interdepartmental Project Portfolio

Interdepartmental Project Portfolio (IPP)

The OIT Interdepartmental Project Portfolio (IPP) aims to improve communication across OIT regarding project work and resource requirements.

In advance of each fiscal year, we thoroughly review IT project requests for assessment, maintenance, enhancement, and new implementation of University systems. These requests are submitted to the Interdepartmental Project Portfolio (IPP) and validated by the Project Managers Team (PMT). The Administrative Technology Committee (ATC) then reviews and endorses the requests. Each request is evaluated based on factors such as business need, impact, cost/benefit, and risk. Approved requests are incorporated into the IPP for the upcoming fiscal year.

What is new

  • A CIO call for FY26 proposals (demands) has been deferred.
  • Projects with Active, Approved or Deferred statuses were migrated to ServiceNow. Creating resource assignments for migrated projects is optional.
  • The legacy IPP is available as a view-only archive.

Annual IT Planning Process Timeline

Planning for each fiscal year begins in March, when the CIO issues a call for projects. OIT reviews submissions for demand, estimates and timing with submitting departments until June, when the PMT summit finalizes the slate. After ATC and CIO approval, projects begin with the fiscal year in July. Ongoing submissions, demand and resources are reviewed in quarterly senior staff meetings starting in September.”
